New Northern Powerhouse Minister Appointed

A new Northern Powerhouse minster has been appointed after James Wharton, who had held the role since May last year, was given a new position as part of Prime Minister Theresa May’s continued shake-up.

Andrew Percy, MP for Brigg and Goole, has been given responsibility to drive the initiative.

He said he was “genuinely keen to give this role my best shot” and added that as a proud Northerner it was “one of the few roles in government I would actually quite relish”.

“I hope having served ten years as a local councillor before becoming an MP I also have something to contribute on the local government front,” said Percy.

“I’ve always championed our area as a backbencher and now I get to champion the North within government.” Read More
