Birchwood store shortlisted for award nine months after £1m investment

STAFF at a Birchwood store are celebrating after being shortlisted for an award – nine months on from a £1 million investment.

The Costcutter at Oakwood Gate, which is situated at the BP, is in the running for the forecourt retailer of the year honour at the Retail Industry Awards.

The nomination comes after the shop was recognised for impressive customer service, involvement in the community, use of new technology and significant business improvements over the past year.

Recognising the need for greater choice for shoppers, the store underwent a £1 million investment last November, which saw it double in size, paving the way for an on-site bakery and eat-in cafe. Read more
