Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet could soon undergo a major programme of investments, which include the creation of additional retail space, a public square, a play area and more parking facilities, under newly submitted plans.
A full planning application has been lodged with Cheshire West & Chester Council to upgrade facilities across the site near Ellesmere Port.
The mall, which opened in 1995 and is owned by McArthurGlen, currently employs about 2,500 staff and it is expected that the new proposals would create another 330 jobs as well as bringing in an additional £12m in gross value added to the North West economy.
The plans include adding several new retail units and kiosks, a pedestrian square, a play area in front of the external seating area of McDonald’s, public toilets, 300 further parking spaces, a pedestrian/cycle bridge connecting the residents of Stanney Grange and Wolverham, and reconfigured management facilities.

A planning and retail statement in support of the application has been prepared by Turley.
It said: “The current investment proposals comprise a series of interventions across all phases of the outlet centre to modernise and upgrade the outlet centre as a whole.
“This represents a responsible continued investment in a regionally significant retail destination responding to customer demand and consumer preferences. The upgrading of facilities is aimed at ensuring customer expectations continue to be exceeded. Read more
