Growth Hub helps to engineer success for LinearTec

Since its foundation in February 2013, LinearTec has enjoyed great success, supplying linear motion technology to the Medical, Aerospace and Machine Tool industries.

In fact, the business has been so successful that just two years into trading Managing Director George Partington found himself needing to source bigger premises.

He identified the perfect space – the much larger unit opposite his existing premises in the Gadbrook Business Park, Northwich – the only problem was managing the process of securing a lease on the buildings. Despite the fact that the unit was clearly available to rent, initial enquiries had proved fruitless and the team at LinearTec were becoming more and more exasperated.

George’s bank recommended he get in touch with the Cheshire and Warrington Growth Hub, and he noticed that with their help, things began to move very quickly indeed. He explained:

“We knew that the larger unit opposite was ideal for us. The problem we faced is that despite multiple enquiries, we were having difficulty in moving the process along as quickly as we needed to.

Paul Ward from the Growth Hub literally made a few phone calls in our initial meeting with him and just two days later, we got the keys to the unit. Unlike us, he had exactly the right contacts to get things moving quickly.”

Since obtaining the new work space, LinearTec has installed new machinery, extended its product line and been able to take on the sub assembly work that customers wanted. It has already taken on one additional member of staff, and hopes to take on another one in 2016.

Discussing the support he received, George added: “The Growth Hub’s support was instrumental in not only securing us a suitable place to further expand our business, but also in keeping us in the local area. At one point we were getting so frustrated that we were thinking of looking elsewhere.

The staff at the Growth Hub quickly got-to-grips with what our business entailed, and why it was imperative that we moved to more suitable accommodation, quickly.
